Limit catalog access by scope
Restrict which certification scopes and specs your team's connections can reach.
By default, every connection in your organization can reach the full SpecMCP library. Owners and administrators can narrow that to a chosen set of certification scopes from Team → Certification scopes. This is an access boundary for the whole organization, applied to every connected tool at once. It is separate from billing: it does not change your plan or seats, only what the catalog exposes.
Two modes
- All catalog (default): every specification and certification scope is available.
- Selected scopes: connections can only reach the scopes you pick, and the specifications those scopes cover. Everything else is hidden from the MCP tools.
Use selected scopes when a team should work against a defined certification program (for example, a single provider type) rather than the entire gematik catalog.
Limit access
Switch to selected scopes
On the Certification scopes card, choose Selected scopes. With nothing selected yet, connections reach no catalog content, so add at least one scope next.
Choose the scopes
Select Manage scopes. The picker groups the catalog into Product type (PTV) and Provider type (ATV); switch between them and search by name or reference. Tick every scope this team should reach.
Save
Select Save scopes. The policy applies organization-wide. Active connections pick up the change within about a minute.
An empty selection blocks everything
In selected mode with no scopes chosen, MCP tools return no catalog content at all. Keep at least one scope selected, or switch back to All catalog.
What connections can reach
When a scope is selected, the MCP exposes that scope and every specification it references, including all versions of those specifications, not just the version the scope pins. That way you can work against the pinned version for certification testing, or a newer version when you are only asking questions. The boundary is at the specification level: a specification that no selected scope references stays hidden. Requirement, search, and version-history tools all honor the same boundary.
Review what a scope covers
Expand any selected scope to see the specifications it covers. Each specification shows the version the scope references for certification, plus how many versions exist in total, so you can tell when a newer publication is available for general questions. See Find the right certification scope for choosing scopes, and Access and billing troubleshooting if a connection cannot reach content you expect.
